Why did you register with Extra Personnel?
After a short face to face discussion with one of the team I felt confident that they would find the work placement that best suited me. Extra Personnel reassured me that they could get me in to a work placement within a short space of time. There was no pressure to sign up with them; they made me feel welcome and the no fuss attitude and the professional but friendly staff gave me a clear view of that Extra Personnel could offer me and what they expected from me in return.
What attracted you to work for Extra Personnel?
When I first walked in to the office off the street with no appointment I was asked to take a seat and someone would be with me shortly. There was no negative reaction which I had experienced from other agencies - "if you haven't got an appointment you'll have to make one and come back"
How would you describe the process when registering with Extra Personnel?
Painless, just a couple of literacy / numeracy and typing speed entry tests before a brief one-to-one chat and then if I was happy with everything, photocopying of legal documents proving my identity, a quick signature on the dotted line and voila, simple.
What does your job entail?
Everything that I asked for and a few extras that I knew I would be able to do.
My role includes front facing reception duties - meet and greet visitors both from within the company and external, first point of contact for the company running the switchboard, general administration, dealing with post, tracking/monitoring all archiving from the residential homes and the office, booking conference facilities, maintaining the office and managers electronic appointment calendars.
What are the most enjoyable parts of your job role?
I am an outward going kind of person so I'd have to say front facing on reception suits me well. Meeting various visiting professionals from within the company and those from outside is what I enjoy the most. Also, building a good rapport with those who visit regularity in a bonus!
Are you happy with the way Extra Personnel has provided work finding services to you?
Yes, very. I have been lucky; Extra Personnel found me a short term placement with the local council followed by two long term placements. The first long term placement was for six months and now the maternity placement I am in will shortly become permanent.
What kind of working relationship do you have with your Extra Personnel consultant?
I have a good relationship with my consultant. If I have any questions regarding my placement, Extra Personnel's policies, holiday entitlement or wages she responds as quickly as possible via email or telephone no matter how big or small the query. If she is not available I am lucky enough to be able to contact her colleague who will take up the baton and get me answers as soon as possible.
What would you recommend to others who may be considering using a recruitment agency?
Find an agency that can help you find the work that you feel comfortable with. Whether you are looking for temporary or temporary/permanent, they should find you work where you feel confident that the work suits you and not somewhere you are a stop-gap in an environment that you do not wish to be in., Pick an agency that looks after you and your best interest, one which treats you as an individual not just a name and number on the payroll - that's why I chose and would recommend Extra Personnel!
